Founded in 1935 in Munich, Salewa is a leading mountain sports supplier with a full range of clothing and equipment. Its consistently high-quality products are developed in collaboration with research institutes and universities. Salewa’s motto “half weight - double resistance” was defined as a research objective to halve the weight and increase the resistance and durability of its products. This strategy has proved particularly successful in developing innovative equipment and apparel for new extreme sports such as free off-piste skiing and mountaineering (free-ski mountaineering). This new form of mountain sports requires fully functional and technically reliable clothing and equipment.
Salewa decided to work together with X-Technology towards this objective. This marked the coming together of two companies whose products both represent the ultimate in innovation and quality in their respective fields. Both companies also share a passion for Italy – Salewa’s new headquarters in Bolzano is scheduled for completion in 2011.
X-Technology developed an integrated shoe and sock system exclusively for Salewa. The range of functional alpine socks was specially designed for Salewa footwear and complemented by corresponding sales materials.
