The dynamic company around Lino Dainese was formed in Molvena, Italy in 1972 to provide protective clothing for motorcyclists and active sports. Its mission was to provide full protection from head to toe. The idea behind it was to take inspiration from nature. Dainese started out by making leather pants for motocross riders and then moved on to provide protective clothing for other sports. Since 1995 it has been developing innovative protective equipment for Downhill mountain biking and skiing. Dainese has sponsored a long list of champions, including Valentino Rossi, Carl Fogarty, Isolde Kostner and Aksel Lund Svindal. For the new generation of dynamic sports enthusiasts Dainese now develops ski helmets, gloves, back protectors, protective knee sliders and body airbags in its own laboratories.
